500 miles, 19 hospitals, 7 days, 4 men plus pedal power
Last year three NHS Development Managers raised around £3000 for charities close to their hearts by cycling 150 miles from North to South Wales in just three days.
This year a team of four from the National Leadership and Innovation Agency for Healthcare (NLIAH: the NHS Improvement agency in Wales) will be cycling to every main hospital site in Wales within a week.
This is a journey of around 500 miles starting from the NLIAH North Wales base in Wrexham on the 10th September.
Every hospital they visit is involved in 1000 Lives Plus – a national programme dedicated to reducing mortality and harm. The cyclists will see first-hand how patient safety is being promoted in the hospitals, and meet the teams who are committed to improving the quality of healthcare in each location.
